You all know that I set a goal for myself to read 52 books this year. That would be one a week, but I got off to a bad start. Honestly, it was because all the books I wanted to read, I didn’t have so I had to order them. But, alas they got here and I was excited to start my journey to accomplish my goal!!
The photo above was my Barnes & Noble haul. I paid NOTHING for all 6 books. Holla! Most were on sale at great bargain prices, I have a membership so I get an even better deal and FREE shipping. Plus, I had a discount code and a gift card from the lovely Ruby at Growing Up Blackxican! So I ended up getting all 6 for free… I was so excited!
Any who, onto my review. *Spoiler Alert!*
Of course, the first book I picked up was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Why? I saw the trailer for the movie. Now, I knew the book had a lot of popularity because of the final part of the trilogy being released not too long again and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t read the book before.
I fell in LOVE with this book. The first chapter was a little slow for me, but a lot had to be covered. But as I read on I found that I couldn’t put the book down. At all. I read the entire thing in 6 hours. Stayed up the whole night!
It has been a while since a book could keep me interested and at the edge of my seat. But, The Hunger Games did a PERFECT job at doing just that.
Katniss gained my love from chapter 1 and then for her to take her sister’s place in the games… omg!
As I kept reading, I feel in love with Peeta. The things he did for Katniss were not only heart warming, but they made me wish that he wasn’t a fictional character.
The entire time they were in the arena, my heart wouldn’t stop pounding. I literally felt like I was there watching the games on the big screen. Crazy, right. Something would happen and I would jump. And you should of heard me gasp when it was announced that if two tributes from the same district survived, they’d both win… gah!
This has got to be one of the best books I’ve read in a LONG time.
And now, I’m SO sad that I don’t have Catching Fire and Mockingjay yet. I have to get my hands on them like yesterday! lol
So, have you read The Hunger Games? What are your thoughts on the book? 🙂
