End of Winter Blog Goals

Spring is a little over a month away and I’m kind of excited… I’ve had enough of winter and the cold weather (and I live in Texas). I just find it so depressing and gloomy… once Christmas and New Year’s is over, I crave the heat and the sun.

Blog Goals

Today, I’m sharing my blog goals to accomplish before spring is “officially” here on March 20th. I figured it would give me about a month to get my blog act together and get with it.

Get a completely new design.

As a graphic designer, I redesigned my blog by myself for 2014 and I really, really loved it… but now when I look at it, I’m not 100% happy about it anymore and I think a lot has to do with it being my design. It’s just how I am… I can’t design something for myself that I stay in love with. So, I’m in the process of hiring Kerri of Olive Kite to design a fresh new look for me. I’m seriously stoked! I felt this instant connection to her while I was browsing her blog (hope that doesn’t sound weird, but her mini-about me says “I ♥ Harry Potter!”) and I kind of knew it was her I wanted a new design from. I can’t wait!!!

Purchase new gadgets.

This one is pretty high on my list because I’m kind of tired of being stuck at my desk and having crappy photos. I love working from my office with everything within reach, but I’m dying to blog while sitting in bed or on the couch watching TV again, so I really need to invest in a laptop. I also need a new camera… little hands got a hold of my old one and we’ll just leave it at that. Phone photos just aren’t cutting it anymore.

Connect with new bloggers who are more in my niche.

When I started blogging, I thought I was the only 17 year old with a blog. I was wrong. However, I fell in love with the community of mom bloggers who accepted me and welcomed me into the world of blogging. A few of them still blog and I still enjoy their blogs very much, but I really want to focus on finding new bloggers this year who I can connect with a little more… like the twenty-something bloggers, the business bloggers, and the lifestyle bloggers who don’t have children. Not saying that I’m going to block everyone else out, I just want to expand my list and connect more.

Improve at my role as a SITS Community Lead.

I don’t know if I would still be blogging if it weren’t for The SITS Girls, seriously. My original SITS day was June 8, 2010… 2 days before my high school graduation. I never thought that I would still be blogging, but here I am and I’ve learned and grown so much. I hope to do better as a SITS Community Lead and help other bloggers, especially new bloggers, on their journeys. I want to be more active in the forums, on the Facebook group, and make it to more #SITSSharefest and #SITSblogging Twitter parties.

Simply blog more.

Sometimes, I’m a crummy blogger. There are weeks when I don’t blog at all… I’m going to work hard at publishing at least three times a week and I want to put together something where I can feature other bloggers. It’s a work in progress.

Become more “social” on social media.

I don’t know how I fell out of this. I want to tweet the way I used to tweet. I want to engage on Facebook the way I used to engage with my readers. I want to share more photos on Instagram and I want to pin more content from fellow bloggers on Pinterest. I want to start and engage in conversations and not just scroll through them. And I want to do this all without it feeling like a chore! It shouldn’t feel like it’s a chore.

Be happy with my blog.

Confession: I tend to compare myself to other bloggers and think I’m the loser. I really do. I have always felt like I could do better at this or do better at that and I don’t want to do that anymore. I want to be authentically happy with my little place on the internet. I have felt this shift in my life since this year started and I know that this is going to be a year of progress and change for me, so I want to change the way I feel about my blog, too.

I think that’s a good place to start and I feel like all these goals are achievable in a month. A lot can happen in a month! Who knows. Wish me luck!

What is one of your blogging goals?

    1. Awe, thanks Tracie! I can’t believe it’s been years since NYAT. Crazy! Glad you’ve stuck around to follow my journey… I can still remember finding your blog via your 24 hour challenge. <3

  1. OK see now you made me realize how old I really am because I remember the first blog you were on. I have missed you so much and began to be a little worried, but I also know you are a strong young woman and if it was anything major I would know. I totally get the finding new bloggers. I really don’t have a niche because my life is so all over the world in its variety niches give me itches lol…I think you can do whatever you set your mind to darling. You always have.

  2. I really want winter to end, as well. Here in the United Kingdom we’ve been bombarded with wind and rain – not good! I’m definitely a summer baby but even summer here we’re prone to rain. Sucks.

I also thought I was the only person who had a blog until I discovered this whole community. Even today there are so many blogs out there that I’m discovering everyday – like yours! :)

Good luck with all your goals! One of mine to blog more, which is going well so far as I’m doing a ‘Blog Everyday In February’.

  3. I don’t necessarily have blogging goals, besides to blog more, but being pretty stagnant leads to a boring blog. I have website goals since I setup my site in a way that is much more than a blog and there’s a lot of goals for that LOL.

  4. Good luck on your goals! You can totally achieve them if you want to enough.

Being a graphic designer myself, I can’t imagine having someone else design my blog, but good for you, I hope it works out! That Harry Potter thing made me laugh. I love Harry Potter too and relate to connecting with people over such simple silly things.

I totally understand the niche thing. So many bloggers are mothers and they are great but I don’t have kids either and I too think it would be nice to connect with bloggers in the same boat, closer to my age and interested in more things that I am .

My blogging goal is to just be me and blog for me, and not compare or change myself to fit in. I’ve also decided to skip social media with my new blog, for me it’s just not worth the time or effort.

  5. Great goals! I share some of your goals, especially the ones about blogging more often and being more active on social media. For a while, I stopped posting on social media and I need to get back to it, especially if I want to connect with other bloggers.

I follow the SITS blog but I didn’t know about the FB group or forums, I will definitely check those out. I hope you end up fulfilling all your goals, keep us posted :)

  6. I understand the comparing yourself to other bloggers. I do the same thing! These are really great goals. I love how you connected with mommy bloggers in the beginning! I’m jealous that you actually have a “niche”. My blog is all over the place, lol! Oh and new gadgets are sooo fun! I hope you can get a laptop and camera soon!

Thank you for the shout out, by the way! I have “siriusly” been dreaming about all the possible designs for your blog! ^_^
